Cleaning & Maintenance Instructions for Window Film

Window Film

Standard films will normally take between 3-4 weeks to cure completely, other products may require a longer period, although external conditions such as humidity, temperature, condensation etc, can influence the necessary drying time.

During this drying period, the film may display a milky or hazy appearance together with small bubbles forming between film and glass. This is perfectly normal and is a temporary occurrence. When cured, the film will bond smoothly to the glass. The border left between film and frame is necessary to assist with the curing process and eliminate possible damage due either to normal window maintenance, or reaction to the frames themselves in the future.

Window Cleaning

Spray the film surface with clean, warm, soapy water.

Gently wipe all over the film surface with a soft, clean pad to loosen the dirt.

Spray the film surface again with clean, warm, non-soapy water.

Squeegee the film dry using a window cleaner’s type rubber squeegee. Small amounts of residual water will then evaporate away naturally.

Ensure that the film edges and corners are not damaged during cleaning-squeegee parallel rather than perpendicular to the edges.

Besides regular cleaning, no other maintenance is required.

Additional notes

Please do not clean for thirty days after installation. This film does not have the hard characteristics of glass and care should be taken in the selection of materials used for cleaning. Do not use bristle brushes

Cleaning should be done on a regular basis; half yearly is suggested.

The soapy water solution is to be made from a liquid concentrate.

Do not use any abrasive materials, products or cleaning equipment.

Keep all equipment and materials used clean, well maintained, and in good condition without defects.

Do not allow any ammonia based products, strong acids/alkalis, phenols, cresols or chlorinated phenols to contact the film. Silicone polishes may be used with care (clean, non-abrasive pads, etc.)

Do not apply any tape, film or other material onto the film surface.

The scratch resistant coating is extremely durable. It will keep windows looking in good condition for many years provided that these instructions are followed.

Do not clean the window at the hottest time of day. It is best to clean in the morning at the beginning of the working day.
