Safety and Security Film
It’s better to be safe than sorry. Protect the ‘weakest’ part of your commercial or public building with safety and security window film.
Unprotected windows can be a weak point for any building whether intentionally being broken by criminals, indirectly by an exterior source such as an explosion, by accident or even spontaneous breakage. When windows shatter, dangerous shards of glass flying through the air can have devastating consequences such as:

Security is an ever increasing concern for companies as threat levels increase and accidental breakage can cause serious injury if the glass is not up to British Safety Standards, so it has never been more important for commercial or public building managers to improve their defences to ensure the safety of all employees, occupants and interior assets.
Glazing no longer has to be a weakness to be exploited as safety and security film can be applied to it to:
- Provide privacy via a one-way mirror effect so criminals can’t see in but you can still see out
- Provide a stronger barrier to outside elements
- Protect the interior from flying glass as it holds it in place upon impact
- Protect your building from theft and vandalism, emergency situations and natural disasters The application of safety window film to upgrade existing glazing is the most widely used method since Regulation 14 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations, 1992) were implemented in 1996. Surprisingly many buildings still contain glass which does not comply.
There are 4 simple steps which may be followed to assess glass in a building;
- UNDERSTAND the regulations surrounding your reason for safety and security window film in your building. For example how does Regulation 14 apply to the glass in your building. Or what grade of bomblast window film you should have the first floor windows.
- ASSESS and carry out a risk assessment to determine areas of risk in your building. This might involve the identification of any hazards; likelihood of harm occurring; potential severity of harm and who would be affected by the harm.
- RECOGNISE the types of glass you have in your building, is it toughened or laminated etc.
- RECORD & REMEDY your findings in a glazing register in an easy
