Applied Products Case Study

Ysgol Bro Penfro

Location: Pembrokeshire
Sector: Education
Products applied: Internal & External Signage, Printed Graphics

Another #APontheJob! This time helping Ysgol Bro Penfro – a brand-new Welsh primary school in Pembrokeshire – with signage challenges that demanded clear thinking and creativity.

Pembrokeshire County Council, working alongside their construction partner, tasked Applied Products to provide essential signage and graphics for Ysgol Bro Penfro. The challenge? An unusual site setup: the primary school shares its location with a comprehensive school and a farm/garden centre, leading to serious security and wayfinding concerns.

The school needed clear signage to prevent unauthorised vehicles from accessing the main entrance – keeping pupils safe – while clearly guiding visitors to the correct locations without compromising the school’s tight budget.

What did we do?

Understanding these challenges, we began by developing a comprehensive wayfinding strategy in close collaboration with the school and council. We carefully considered sign placement to ensure maximum clarity, security, and cost-effectiveness.

Once the school was happy with our plan, we installed clear external directional and instructional signage at strategic locations. These signs directed visitors efficiently, prevented unauthorised vehicle access, and significantly improved the safety of pupils.

Internally, we fitted printed graphics and signage to decorate and visually enhance spaces like the Hall, Kitchen, and Library. This broke up large walls, added visual appeal, and clearly identified each area, improving overall navigation.

The results?

The client was delighted with the finished results. Clear, thoughtfully placed signage now guides visitors effortlessly, maintains strict security, and keeps children safe – exactly as requested.

Internally, the printed graphics have transformed empty wall spaces into vibrant, welcoming areas, helping students and visitors navigate easily.
