What is dichroic window film?
Dichroic window film is a high-end decorative film that you apply to glass surfaces to create a dynamic, colour-shifting effect. The word “dichroic” comes from the Greek for “two colours”, and that tells you a lot about how it behaves.
The angle you view it from changes everything. So does the light in the room. The result is a pane of glass that never quite looks the same twice, which is exactly what makes it so compelling.
The film works using multi-layer optical technology. Ultra-thin layers interfere with light waves, reflecting some wavelengths whilst letting others pass through. Think of the iridescence in a soap bubble or a butterfly’s wing, that same principle, engineered into an architectural product.

Dichroic window film comes in two main tone families. The difference between them is striking, so it’s worth understanding both before you choose.

Cool dichroic film moves through blues, aqua, gold and yellow. It feels fresh and energising, well-suited to modern offices, creative environments and reception areas where you want to make an immediate impression.
